Office Policies

At Birmingham Orthodontics, we strive to keep our office policies as straightforward and patient-focused as possible. We understand that emergencies happen, that appointments sometimes need to be rescheduled, and that more often than not, when things go wrong it occurs outside of standard business hours.

 

The following are our office policies, and they apply to each of our locations. Call our office if you have any questions about these policies.

 

Office Hours

 

Our offices are open from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Thursday with a one hour lunch break from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.  However, phones are still answered from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.  We are closed on the weekends and on most major holidays. Our Hoover and Trussville offices remain open on Fridays from 8:00am to 12:00pm, but only for administrative purposes and orthodontics emergencies as doctors are not available.  Call 205-733-2022 or 205-655-7716 before coming in for any reason.

 

Appointments

 

Appointments are typically scheduled through the front desk at the end of your current appointment. Because appointments are usually scheduled seven weeks apart, we have an automated service that calls to remind you of your next appointment 48 hours before it is scheduled. Please try your best to be on time to your appointments. If for some reason you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, call your primary office at least one business day before your scheduled office visit. If you forget to cancel an appointment before the close of business the day before the scheduled appointment or fail to show up for a scheduled appointment, you will be charged a $35 fee.  There is no fee for your first missed appointment.

 

Patients who are currently in school will have their appointments alternated between school hour and after-school hour appointment times. This is to help ensure that all of our patients miss the least amount of school possible.

 

Fee Schedule

 

The following fees may apply for unforeseen issues:

 

• Broken bracket fee – $5 per broken bracket (not charged until you have had over 5 broken brackets)
• Late payment fee – $25 if your monthly payment is not made by the 15^th of each month
• Missed appointment fee – $35

 

Our orthodontists work hard to give you the best smile possible, but you must also work to ensure that your orthodontic care progresses according to plan. Patients may compromise the success of their orthodontic treatment if they fail to follow their orthodontist’s instructions with regard to wearing their retainers, brushing their teeth, coming in for regularly scheduled appointments, etc.
